Join us on Saturday 30th August in Narberth for Dydd Gŵyl yr Haf—a vibrant celebration of Welsh culture, creativity, and community.
Inspired by the folklore of the Tylwyth Teg (Welsh fairy folk) and the wisdom of summer herbs and traditions, the event will feature storytelling, hands-on crafts, and fun activities for all ages.
We’re looking for friendly and enthusiastic young volunteers to help with setting up, running workshops, and serving refreshments throughout the day (2–5pm at the Scout Hut). It’s a great chance to get involved in your community, gain experience, and be part of a magical day! Interested? Get in touch to find out more.
Responsibilities
• Help set up and pack down event materials, decorations, and workshop spaces.
• Support workshop leaders by assisting with arts, crafts, and storytelling activities.
• Welcome and guide visitors, helping families feel comfortable and informed.
• Serve refreshments and keep the refreshment area clean and stocked.
• Lend a hand with the treasure hunt and other interactive activities throughout the afternoon.
What you’ll need
• A friendly, helpful attitude and willingness to get involved
• Comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for moving around and helping outdoors
• A bottle of water to stay hydrated
• Permission from a parent or guardian if you’re 16 or under
• Enthusiasm for working with families, children, and the community
Skills you will gain
• Experience working at a live community event
• Skills in teamwork, communication, and event support
• Confidence interacting with the public and leading activities
• A chance to be part of a fun, creative celebration of Welsh culture
• Volunteer hours that can count toward awards like the Duke of Edinburgh or Welsh Baccalaureate
